Arts and Music Night 2014 was an incredible night, as 250 students from Grades 1 - 12 sang in choirs, performed solos, and performed in different bands. I am so proud of each and every one of them. The power of music was incredible as each group raised the bar, and performed better than they had in previous years! Congratulations go to Caleb Michalski for winning the Exceptional Contribution Scholarship, and Ali Bush for winning the Graydon Foster Memorial Scholarhip. Watching kids of all ages pour passion into all of their performances was incredibly moving. I am truly blessed to be teaching these amazing students. One of my favourite quotes:
Why Do We Teach Music?
So you will be human
So you will recognize beauty
So you will be closer to an infinite beyond this world
So you will have something to cling to
So you will have more love, more compassion, more gentleness, more good
In short, more life

Thank you again everybody!
The Primary Division enjoyed a trip to the Kortright Centre’s Sugar Bush Maple Syrup Festival. The explored the sugar bush and learned how sap is collected and made into maple syrup.
Congratulations to our Newton’s Grove Intermediate Bowling Team for winning the SSAF Elementary Bowling Championship this year. It was a great day and our students showed terrific skill and spirit. Two of our students were the top Elementary bowlers of the day. Kevin Jarosz took first place with a high score of 148, and his brother Ryan Jarosz took second place with a high score of 140. Due to their excellent performance and a strong showing by the other Intermediate students, Emily Yeung, Jason Punia, Julian Santos and Gareth Maron-Cole, we were able to achieve the highest school score and won the Championship banner. Well done, Knights!
We are delighted to announce that Newton’s Grove in now an official AP school registered with the College Board. We have been granted permission to administer AP exams, and we will have students writing AP Music Theory, AP Chemistry, and AP Statistics this May. We are proud of our first students taking these exams, and we certainly wish them well!
