On Thursday, December 10th, the Primary Division students lit up the stage with their wonderful rendition of Santa’s Stuck in the 50’s. With their impressive acting, singing and dancing they helped everyone in the audience find the Christmas spirit! Well done Primaries!
The high school drama students attended "Kinky Boots" on Wednesday, December 2nd, at the Royal Alexandra Theatre. The students enjoyed the overall message of "friendship and accepting others for who they are". It was a fun-filled, uplifting event!
On Thursday, November 27th the ESL students went on a field trip to the CN tower. By taking the subway downtown the students got to develop a sense of independence and confidence in their surroundings which was quickly put to the test with dares to walk across the glass floor at the top of the Tower.
A big thanks to WINGS, and all of our Newton's Grove students for another very successful Christmas Food & Toy Drive.
We are so proud of 10 of our top musicians who were chosen to participate in the 2015 Ontario Provincial Honour Band. Emily Wuschnakowski, Rayhan Srivastav, Prabhdeep Soni, Mackenzie Knowlton, Ciaran Sullivan Warr, Periklis Alikiotis, Emily Yeung, Mitchell Dalton, Teah Florio, and Alexandra Dietrich
The OPHB auditions and then selects 65 of the province's high school musicians to take part in an intensive four days of music learning and making. The program includes rehearsal camps and concerts, and camp attendees have gone on to become major players in Canada's concert scene, notably Steven Woomert, Toronto Symphony Orchestra Associate Principal Trumpet.
The 10 students that were selected from our school came back changed. They were excited, they learned so much and they had fun. Already they are wanting to audition for next year, and more importantly they now have many younger peers wanting to do the same.
Congratulations to all of you!
Honour Band really taught me so much! I made great friends, the performances were amazing and gave me chills. There were so many things to do at the camp (Jackson's Point) and I couldn't have had a better time. Ciaran Sullivan Warr
Honour band was an extremely memorable experience > not only did I learn so much from it, but I also made a lot of new friends. Walking into Honour band, I was extremely nervous and I wasn't sure what I was in for. The experience was a lot of work but a whole lot of fun. I am so proud to say that I could participate in an amazing band like this, and I definitely will be auditioning next year! Alexandra Dietrich
Honour Band was a fantastic experience to meet new friends, work with a conductor specialist and play extremely difficult pieces. We learned different techniques and our playing skills grew immensely. Best of all we performed a world premiere; "Charon's Dance" by Kevin Lau: Emily Yeung
