Paul Coffey Event!

Yesterday's Paul Coffey Event was a tremendous success! Thank you to all of our families that celebrated with us as we acknowledged a man who's name and legacy will be a tremendous part of Newton's Grove's future.

Our athletics, recreational and exploratory programming will extensively occur in Paul Coffey Arena and Paul Coffey Park.

A tremendous thank you also goes to our talented musicians and vocalists and Music Director whose performance brought a sense of community and awe to the event. Thank you also extends to a well spoken and courageous young NGS man who unexpectedly spoke on stage yesterday.

Congratulations to Paul Coffey and the Newton's Grove community for a tremendous evening!

Here are a few highlights of the evening. More photos will follow. Stay tuned!

Paul Coffey Day! Let's Get Excited!

An exciting event coming up!

He Shoots! He Scores!

We are pleased to announce that Newton’s Grove has been invited to share a historic moment with local hockey legend, Paul Coffey! The old Malton Arena, just a short walk from our new school on Goreway, is being renamed in honour of the Hall of Fame NHL player. Paul Coffey played with greats such as Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux, winning four Stanley Cups in the process.  Naturally, we are delighted to be part of the ceremony that recognises this Malton native and all that he has accomplished.

As you heard last year from our Athletic Director, Nick Zero, we will be further developing our skating program this year and starting the first ever ice hockey program at Newton’s Grove!  We are all very excited to have the opportunity to have our students train and practice at this newly renamed facility, and we are excited to begin our association with the Paul Coffey Arena in this memorable way.

Our choir and band will be performing O Canada and a number of other pieces at the request of Councillor Carolyn Parrish. The Mayor of Mississauga, Bonnie Crombie, will be presiding, and our students will have a chance to meet Mr. Coffey and many of the dignitaries there. We hope you will be able to join us and be part of this historic event at 7:00 p.m. next Friday, September 23rd at 3430 Derry Rd. E., and while you’re there, check out the newly painted exterior of our new school, just down the road at 6850 Goreway Dr.

Looking forward to seeing you there,

The Team at Newton’s Grove
