Newton’s Grove School news: December 2016

Newton's Grove's WINGS supports the local community!

The Newton's Grove community knows how important it is to support its local and global communities. This year, the families of Newton's Grove collected food and toy donations for the Police Foundation. The items collected would be distributed to those in need during this holiday season.

Newton's Grove is growing a community that thinks beyond themselves and takes action to assist those in need.

From our family to yours we wish you a safe, happy and healthy holiday season!

Newton's Grove is committed to their local community

Newton’s Grove is a community committed to lending their time to improve their immediate community.

The Senior and Jazz Bands had the privilege of playing at Kipling Acres, a long-term care facility. It was a moving experience for all of them, and they had the unique opportunity to see how the power of music was able to bring smiles, singing and even dancing to the residents. Our students spent some time visiting with the residents after their performance, and at the request of the residents, will be returning to perform in the Spring!

Thank you, Kipling Acres, for having us!

The Princess and the Penguin

Our Primary Production of the Princess and the Penguin was a fantastic success! What an amazing performance!

To the students in the Primary Division, your hard work and dedication to the production was obvious in how well you sung, danced and acted. To the Primary Division teachers, there are not enough words to describe how much we value your dedication to our students.

Congratulations to you all! Everyone worked extremely hard and should be very proud of how well they performed. We cannot wait to see what you come up with next year.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Speeches Competition 2016: 'What the World Gains from Optimism'

Newton’s Grove prides itself in the opportunities it presents to its students to achieve and present their personal best throughout and beyond the school community. Recently, students in grades 9 through 12 presented speeches in front of the Optimist Club judges for the Optimist International Oratorical Contest.

This year the Optimist Club topic was: ‘What the World Gains from Optimism’

Our students presented powerful, articulate and thought provoking speeches that challenged their peers to criticize their interpretation of events and engage differently with their communities. Congratulations to all of this year’s finalists, you all performed exceptionally well.

The Individualized Approach

Newton’s Grove School focuses on developing and challenging the individual to achieve their personal best. This is achieved, in part, by challenging students to think differently as they face complex scenarios within and outside of the classroom.

Below, students in our design courses are building architectural models of their own design. They are developing their designs on Autocad and then assembling them with toothpicks.

Solidification of Theoretical Concepts at Newton's Grove

Newton’s Grove School believes that the solidification of theoretical concepts through hands on exploration is critical for the true understanding and retention of curricula.

Here our grade 7 students are creating free-standing bridges out of selected materials that are required to support multiple objects.

We provide students with opportunities to explore theories individually and within groups, building their teamwork and inquiry skills. Kids Grow Here.

The Holiday Season has arrived at Newton's Grove School

The holiday season has arrived at Newton's Grove School and our youngest students exemplify the true spirit of the season. Students have begun discussing ways they can or have helped their friends, peers, parents, relatives and teachers through random acts of kindness.

Newton's Grove School nurtures the whole child to develop well rounded human beings.

Beaver Computing Competition Success!

Newton's Grove supports, motivates and challenges every student as they become and achieve their personal best.

Almost six thousand students within Canada participated in the Beaver Computing Competition, 36 of those participants were Newton’s Grove students. The results were outstanding and two of our students achieved Notable Distinction. We would like to congratulate the students who received notable distinction in both the senior and intermediate divisions. These students are outstanding and were placed them in the top tier of participants.

We are very proud of their accomplishments! Congratulations!
