Newton’s Grove School news: May 2019

Congratulations to Our Amazing Musicians

As the year wraps up, we would like to give special congratulations to all our amazing musicians and their accomplishments! Kannan, Michael, and Justin completed their year with the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra, giving a spectacular performance at Scarborough City Hall. As part of this same group for many years, Emily will be travelling with the band on a week-long tour of Spain to participate in an international conference for the “World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles”. Andres and Connor concluded their time with the Hannaford Youth band by participating in an amazing concert at Canada’s Wonderland.

We would also like to thank our Newton’s Grove community for your amazing support at our Annual Music Buffet. We raised over $2200 to support our amazing program!

27th Annual Athletic Banquet 2019

Last week we were thrilled to be able to celebrate our student athletes and their amazing coaches at the annual Newton’s Grove Athletic Banquet. Awards, videos, pictures, an inspiring speech given by an Olympian...what an evening of excellence! Thank you to the many teachers and students who worked to put together a fantastic event. Congratulations to all of our dedicated athletes. Your success never fails to impress!

Canada-Wide Science Fair

Huge Congratulations to Michael Husu who received a personal invitation to compete in the Canada-Wide Science Fair this year in Fredricton, New Brunswick! This is the first time a student from NGS has made it to the National level! He studied the effects of varying room temperatures on the tuning of wind, brass and string instruments. We are so proud of him.

2019 Peel Music Festival

Congratulations, Rishi, one of our very talented grade 9 students, for placing first in two of his entries and second in another entry at the 2019 Peel Music Festival for Classical Piano. Well done!
