2021 Optimist Oratorical Contest Academics, Events Newton’s Grove has had an impressive run in this year’s Optimist Oratorical Contest. Despite all the challenges of working from home, our students have shone at every level of the competition. The results speak to our students’ creativity, passion, and eloquence, as well as to the strength of our public speaking programSuraj in grade 11 and Esha in grade 10 finished first and second at the Club level and qualified for the Zone competition. In the Zone finals, Esha placed second and Suraj placed third, both narrowly missing a chance to move on. In the York Zone Finals, Arpan in grade 11 and Katie in grade 12 placed first and second, respectively. Arpan has now qualified for the District Finals on May 15th. Congratulations are due to all our speakers who have represented the school so wonderfully! Best of wishes to Arpan as she competes for $5000 in scholarships at the District competition. She is a worthy and impressive candidate, and she is certain to perform impressively.
