Coaches Day: A Legacy of a Newton’s Grove School Coach! Athletics, Community Yesterday was Coaches Day and we wanted to take a moment to honour a great coach in our community, our Athletics Director, Mr. Zero. Mr. Zero has been a coach and a mentor to so many of our students over the years and we had the chance to sit down with him to ask him a few questions. Q: Why did you become a coach, Mr. Zero?A: Just like teaching, one becomes a coach to inspire and empower others to achieve their potential. I love sports and coaching allows me to share my knowledge, provide guidance and help others overcome challenges, so for me, it is my calling, a job that I have always wanted. And that aligns so well with the philosophy here at Newton’s Grove, where the extensive Athletics program provides a perfect balance to the rigorous academic programming. So that has really been how I knew that I found my niche at Newton’s Grove. Q: What do you enjoy most about being a coach?A: Developing teamwork is what I enjoy most about coaching. Working as a team really highlights the collaborative nature of sports, players benefit hugely from this, and fostering camaraderie is a coach’s greatest responsibility. It is a joy to see your team building relationships, fostering trust, and achieving goals together; creating a rewarding experience for all. That element of team building and fostering relationships goes far beyond my work as a Coach; it underpins the foundation of one of the key aspects of Newton’s Grove that we are so very proud of – our warm, close-knit community. Q: What is your favourite sport to coach?A: I love to coach Soccer, Track and Field, and Volleyball, since they are my favourite sports! With Newton’s Grove having such an extensive athletic program – over 60 varsity teams every year, plus intramurals – it is my pleasure to be able to help coach and oversee the coaching of all of my favourite sports, plus so much more! Mr. Zero has been a coach and a mentor to so many of our students over the years, our Athletics Council Prefect had this to say: “We are so happy to have had Mr. Zero coaching so many of us at Newton’s Grove, he is a great mentor and has helped all of us develop as athletes and as people over the years. Thank you so much, Mr. Zero!” Related Articles November 2024 Elevating Athletics: Spotlight on Newton’s Grove’s Athletic Centre At Newton’s Grove School, we believe in nurturing both mind and body and are proud… October 2024 Open House: Your Gateway to Newton’s Grove We are excited to host our first Open House of the academic year on Saturday,… August 2024 Andrew Thibaudeau Class of 23′ Andrew Thibaudeau, Class of 23′, came back to be a coach at NGS’s Nike Basketball… August 2024 Celebrating Terry Fox Day: Honouring a Canadian Hero and Inspiring Future Generations August 5, 2024, marks Terry Fox Day, a day dedicated to remembering and celebrating the… July 2024 Nike Soccer and Basketball Camps Kick Off In August If you have not yet had a chance to check out our robust roster of… July 2024 Awesome Athletics – What a Season!
