Celebrating Canadian History at the Middle School Heritage Fair Academics On Wednesday, November 27, our Middle School students brought Canadian history to life through the annual Heritage Fair, a highlight of the fall term that invited creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. From 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., families were warmly welcomed to attend and explore student-led exhibits. This year’s fair was held on the AC Level track at our Main Campus, where students presented their projects in an engaging, interactive format. Each display reflected a unique aspect of Canada’s heritage, with students taking on the role of historian and storyteller. Visitors explored a wide range of topics, from the War of 1812 to the waves of immigration to Canada and the settlements that followed. Several students examined the development of cultural communities within Toronto, while our Grade 8s presented thoughtful projects on Confederation and the formation of Canada as a nation. The Heritage Fair was more than a research project – it was an opportunity for students to connect with the past in meaningful ways, develop presentation skills, and share what they learned with pride. Rooted in our Classrooms that Think approach, the fair invited students to question, analyze, and engage in thoughtful discussion as they brought historical narratives to life. Through this process, they not only deepened their understanding of Canadian history but also strengthened the critical and creative thinking skills that define learning at Newton’s Grove. We were delighted to welcome families for an afternoon of learning, conversation, and celebration of Canada’s rich and diverse history.
