Remembrance Day Citizenship Our Remembrance Day Ceremony clearly focused all of us on remembering others who made contributions. It was also an opportunity to commit to our own contribution to peace going forward.Having the entire student body, JK-12, together was a very powerful experience. Students demonstrated respect for this solemn ceremony with outstanding comportment. All students acted as outstanding audience members. Special thanks to the students who recited, poems such as, In Flanders Fields, laid wreathes, and shared moving recitations about loss and peace. Thank you also to the students who played The Last Post, Reveille, and the very moving musical finale performed by the senior band.We welcomed decorated veteran, John Stevens, a former air force pilot. He shared many valuable messages. The most important was his comment that “I wanted to be a pilot and was told I couldn’t do this, but I obviously did. Do not let anyone tell you that you cannot do something.” Senior Division Teacher, Lieutenant Stewart Jones, spoke from his experience as a reservist regarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He explained how this monument enshrines our nation’s love of peace as a lasting reminder of the sacrifice of others. We are grateful to both of our excellent speakers.
