New Community Initiative: Bites of Kindness Community, Events If you have ever asked yourself the question what makes Newton’s Grove so extraordinary vs any other school, here’s just one example … At Newton’s Grove, kindness isn’t just a value we teach—it’s a way of life. That’s why we are so proud of our students – in Grades 7 and 5 – who identified a need (persons who are homeless or displaced) and was so very motivated to help! The students chose to not action this community initiative at home or within their neighbourhood, but instead to approach the Newton’s Grove Leadership Team with their the Bites of Kindness initiative, knowing that our ethos on ‘giving back’ so totally align. Resultantly, these young changemakers have teamed up with our WINGS Council – We Inspire Newton’s Grove Students – to source food donations from our local grocery stores and enlist the help of both the faculty and other Newton’s Grove students to prepare and donate 500 sandwiches to Ve’ahavta, a charitable organization dedicated to helping individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty by distributing fresh food. This initiative showcases the incredible power of collaboration and compassion. With support from local businesses like Freshco and Metro, our students have already secured some of the ingredients. On December 6, 2024, staff and students will come together to assemble the sandwiches right here at school. It’s a hands-on experience that not only fosters teamwork but also reinforces the importance of giving back to the community. The WINGS Council is thrilled to guide this project, helping coordinate logistics, mobilize resources, and inspire everyone involved. This is just the beginning—our students hope to expand Bites of Kindness into an ongoing tradition that reaches even more people in need. By joining forces with businesses, families, and staff, Newton’s Grove is proving that when we lead with kindness, we can make a real difference. Let’s celebrate this incredible initiative and the amazing students who are turning their vision into reality! Related Articles February 2025 Enjoy the Family Day Long Weekend!
