Celebrating Lunar New Year at Newton’s Grove

January 29, 2025 marks the Lunar New Year, a vibrant celebration and a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate the cultural differences that make our Newton’s Grove community so special.

While the dates of Lunar New Year change every year since it is based on the lunar cycle, it usually falls in late January or early February. This rich and colourful celebration is observed in many Asian countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam.

Somewhat different from how North Americans welcome the New Year, the Lunar New Year is often ushered in with such activities as cleaning the house, giving red envelopes, and watching lion and dragon dances.

We are so proud of our Newton’s Grove community that celebrates the rich tapestry of awareness, inclusion, and diversity. We invite all families to join us in ushering in the Lunar New Year.
