Easter Long Weekend: A Time of Rest and Relaxation

Happy Easter

For many students and teachers, Easter means a welcome long weekend. Good Friday and Easter Monday are holidays that are observed in different ways in numerous countries around the world, including our very own traditions here in Canada.

The origins of Easter Monday trace back to a tradition of celebrating the week following Easter Sunday as the renewal of life and rebirth. Over time, the day after Easter evolved into a public holiday in many nations.

How are you spending your Easter long weekend? Many families use the time to enjoy Easter-themed activities like Easter egg hunts, attending special religious services, enjoying festive meals with family, or simply relaxing at home. I always look forward to having a slow morning with no need to rush off to school or study.

No matter how you choose to spend the day, this extra long weekend serves as a pleasant break from the normal routines of school and work. We all need those restorative pauses from time to time. The day allows us to recharge our energy and enthusiasm as we continue to keep up our momentum for the final couple months of the school year.

I hope you all have a wonderful and meaningful Easter celebration. Enjoy your Easter Monday and we’ll see you back at school on Tuesday, rested and ready to continue learning!
