National Inspiring Joy Day: Finding Joy in the Everyday at Our School Uncategorized Today we celebrate National Inspiring Joy Day, which feels especially meaningful as “Joy” has been our school theme all throughout 2023/24. When we kicked off the new school year, we challenged our students, teachers, and staff to bring more joy into our hallways, classrooms, and daily interactions. Looking back over the past months, it has been incredible to see how our community has embraced the spirit of joy in so many ways, both big and small. From kindergarteners with their cheery greetings as they bounce gleefully through our doors every morning, to our middle school students crafting Christmas cards for seniors, to our talented band performing at Senior Living facilities, our school has been infused with an uplifting, positive energy. And by extension, our staff and students have found incredible ways to share their sense of kindness, care, and joys with the wider community. Acts of kindness and celebrations of each other’s accomplishments have brought smiles to so many faces this year. The joy of learning has been on full display, whether it was a science class erupting in cheers when an experiment succeeded, or an English class reciting poetry with dramatic flair and enthusiasm. On the athletic fields, players exhibited the joy of competition and sportsmanship with games played and competitions won in basketball and volleyball, to name just a few. In the music rooms, we have heard the pure joy of creative expression as instruments played and even serenaded numerous school events! This year’s focus on joy has been a reminder that we all have the ability to brighten someone’s day through our attitudes and actions. A simple gesture like holding the door, giving an encouraging word, or flashing a warm smile can create little bursts of joy that can lift moods and attitudes. As we celebrate National Inspiring Joy Day, let’s continue to effuse this year’s theme in the weeks ahead, right through until the final school bell rings in June. Let’s continue to savor the pure joys of learning, growth, and community that make our school such a special place to spend our days. If you have stories about how our school’s “Year of Joy” has positively impacted you and your family, please share it, so others can be inspired by our joys too!
