Newton’s Grove School had the honor of hosting the Nav Bhatia Superfan Basketball Camp during the month of August, with Mississauga being the final stop of the event’s multi city tour.

For three thrilling, action-packed days we opened our doors to welcome hundreds of children, parents and caregivers, and corporate sponsors and partners from the local community to help provide an absolutely unforgettable experience for children of all ages.

The second day of the camp had a specific focus on inspiring the young women of the next generation, with none other than WNBA and Canadian Basketball superstar Kayla Alexander leading the all-female teams in basketball drills and inspirational discussions.

The mantra of this incredible camp – providing access to, building engagement and creating joy through sport – is so intrinsic to how we at Newton’s Grove regard the power of sport.

We want to say a big thank you to the Nav Bhatia Superfan team for inviting us to be a part of the experience, and to all the community partners – Tim Hortons, Canadian Tire Jumpstart, Interac, Tangerine, Canada Basketball, FreshCo, and supporters such as Malton MPP Deepak Anand and City of Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie – who worked collaboratively to make this event so very memorable for Newton’s Grove School, and even more importantly, for all the children who participated and were inspired to continue learning and deepening relationships and their community engagement through sport.
