Preparing for the Year Ahead: Building Stronger Classrooms Through Reflection and Professional Learning Uncategorized This week, our teaching staff returned from summer break and have been preparing their classrooms for the 2025–2026 school year. Alongside that work, we’ve placed a strong focus on professional development through workshops and seminars led by experienced specialists and industry professionals. Eric Roher joined us earlier in the week to lead a session on professional boundaries. His workshop provided practical strategies for maintaining clear, respectful, and effective boundaries with students, colleagues, and families. He walked us through common challenges educators face and offered guidance on how to navigate them while continuing to excel in our roles. The session encouraged reflection on our responsibilities as professionals and reinforced the importance of clarity, consistency, and care in all areas of school life. Later in the week, Monique Power facilitated a session titled Equity in Action: Building Inclusive Classrooms Through Reflection and Practice. The workshop focused on key concepts and definitions related to equity and inclusion, with real-world examples that helped frame the learning in the context of our own school community. Topics included microaggressions, prejudice, and various forms of racism and sexism, all explored through research-based materials, group discussion, and self-reflection. Monique’s approach provided space for open dialogue and helped staff identify practical steps we can take to support inclusion in our classrooms and broader school culture. We’re grateful to both Eric and Monique for sharing their time and expertise with us as we begin a new school year grounded in thoughtful, intentional practice.
