Remembrance Day at Newton’s Grove

Today, our school community came together for a solemn and meaningful Remembrance Day Ceremony. Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 students and staff members gathered to honour those who have served, reflected on the impact of war, and considered the importance of peace in our own lives and communities.

Several students contributed to the ceremony through poetry, readings, and music. “In Flanders Fields” was recited and thoughtful reflections on loss, courage, and peace added to the collective moment of remembrance.

We were honoured to welcome a special guest, Chris Gardner, who shared his personal stories and reflections after serving Canada for 32 years. Chris spoke about stewardship, leadership, and empathy, offering powerful insights that resonated with students and staff. His messages served as an important reminder of the human stories behind this national day of remembrance.

As we stood together in silence, it was clear that this ceremony was not only about remembering the past, but also about committing ourselves to a more peaceful future. We are proud of the respectful conduct and thoughtful participation shown by all of our students, and we thank everyone who contributed to this important event.
