Spotlight on Ms. Michelle Hewitt

If you’ve ever attended a Newton’s Grove play, chances are you’ve seen the creative force that is Ms. Michelle Hewitt at work. For over 20 years, she has been the heart and soul of our drama program—and her impact is felt in every corner of the school.

As our Arts Coordinator, Ms. Hewitt does far more than direct performances. She builds confidence, encourages bold ideas, and creates a space where students of all ages feel seen and heard. Whether it’s a Primary student taking the stage for the first time or a Grade 12 student stepping into a lead role, Ms. Hewitt meets them with the same energy and care.

A Legacy of Creativity

Each year, our school community looks forward to the shows she brings to life—from the charming Primary Play to the spirited Middle School production, to the deeply thoughtful and often ambitious Senior Play. Behind the scenes, she is a mentor, a motivator, and a tireless advocate for student expression.

But her role goes beyond the stage. In the classroom, Ms. Hewitt nurtures a love for the arts that lasts well beyond graduation. Her students learn to trust their instincts, collaborate meaningfully, and take creative risks—skills that serve them in every area of life.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Ms. Hewitt has shaped the culture of the arts at Newton’s Grove. Her dedication, warmth, and vision continue to inspire students and staff alike. We’re incredibly lucky to have her, and grateful every day for the joy she brings to our community.
