Welcome to Summer & PRIDE Month Assembly at Newton’s Grove: Celebrating Unity and Leadership Events The excitement was palpable in the air as the Newton’s Grove community gathered for the much-anticipated Welcome to Summer & PRIDE Month assembly. This annual event serves as a hallmark of our school’s dedication to fostering inclusivity, celebrating diversity, and acknowledging the hard work of our students. Celebrating PRIDE Month As June marks PRIDE Month, our assembly kicked off with a vibrant celebration of the LGBTQ+ community. PRIDE Month at Newton’s Grove is a time to honour love, acceptance, and the importance of being true to oneself. The assembly featured a moving speech from Sam Hacking-Rossiter who shared their personal experiences and the significance of PRIDE. The hall was adorned with colourful decorations, reflecting the rainbow flag, a symbol of unity and diversity. Recognizing Our Clubs and Societies One of the highlights of the assembly was the recognition of the various clubs that make Newton’s Grove a vibrant and dynamic place to learn and grow. From the Science Club to the Drama Club, each group had a moment to shine, showcasing their achievements and contributions over the past year. Naming the New Prefects The climax of the assembly was the announcement of the new prefects, our student council for the coming academic year. Students and staff were treated to performances by the school band/choir as well as a visual presentation directed by Dilan Mehra, and the energy was infectious as everyone joined in singing and dancing. The joyous atmosphere was a perfect way to usher in the warm months ahead and reflect on the accomplishments of the past year.
